Taudaha Lake

Taudaha lake lies in the Northeast of Kathmandu valley. The name of the lake is combination of two newari words 'ta', means snake and 'daha',means lake. According to the mythology, a Buddhist mythical character Manjushree cut the hill in the valley's south, allowing lakes water to drain off, creating land which was occupied by people. The Chobar was a narrow passage from which Bagmati river exits the Kathmandu valley. It is belived that Taudaha lake is one of the lake created beyond the hills after the ancient lake drained away.
